Chronology of events:
- 24 Aug 2008 -
wkend after iPhone launch. i finally bought my iphone after queueing for a total of 3.5hrs.
tuck tuck renewed his singtel contract so tt i can get the iphone.
I took out my M1 sim card n told the sales asst tt i was gonna use an M1 card on my iphone.
she said it’ll work like a normal phone, except tt data surfing cannot be used.
wtf. who buys an iphone w/o using the data n fun stuffs?
i decided the iphone is a must-get so i will get a Singtel line when my M1 contract ends in Feb09.
- 16 Dec 2008 -
i decided to give tuck tuck a Nokia E71 for xmas.
so i got a new Singtel line for a $30 fee, signed a two-yr contract wif them.
now i had two lines - a Singtel n an M1.
i cld’ve gotten e phone at e same price simply by renewin my M1 contract.
no $30 charge, no extra mobile line.
so why did i do tt for?
cos some f*ker in singtel told me i can’t surf data on my M1 sim card
so im gonna terminate my M1 line in Feb09.
nvm the extra subscriptions i had to pay for 2 lines frm Dec to Feb.
i’m a die hard apple fan n I WANNA SURF DATA!!
- 9 Feb 2009 -
after an eager wait of 2 mths, finally my M1 contract has ended!
i called M1 to port over my line n was told tt in fact i cld simply change 2 very idiot-proof settings to surf data. all that wait for nothing! wtf!
so obviously now i was an angry girl, cheated by Singtel and left hangin on to 2 mobile lines.
i called Singtel to demand a closure of my Singtel line (which has a contract) w/o any charge.
i din even ask them to compensate me on the wasted subscriptions tt i’ve paid.
- Rest of Feb 2009 -
Several calls frm Singtel ensued. instead of apologisin for givin the customer the wrong info, a lady who cannot speak audible english simply said tt they DID NOT KNOW that M1 sim cards cld be used to surf data by changin some settings.
ok.. does that mean it’s my fault tt u duno? does tt mean tt i have to pay for 2 lines jus cos YOU THE SELLER DON’T KNOW? sounds like big bullshit to me. obviously this ridiculous lady got kan by me big time tt day n finally understood tt “i will not take no for an answer”.
- 5 Mar 2009 -
at 11pm (i duno why 11pm), an Indian guy called to follow up.
Indian guy: we cannot waive off the termination charge, but we can offer u 2 to 5 mths free subscription.
* think to myself: huh? 2-5 mths? ok, i volunteer for 2 mths! right… *
after a series of debate…
cancan: “to be honest, i can go to the Small Claims Court to recover my costs, but tt’s a waste of my time n i think it’s a waste of ur time n resources too”…. “i dun understand why u make it sound like it’s an exception n u’re doing me a favour. ur staff provided e customer wif e wrong information. instead of thinkin of ways to compensate the customer, u try to bargain wif e customer n try everyway to cut ur losses. is tt how the Singtel service is like? is that how u treat ur customer?”
and then finally the real meaningful discussion began.
and so cancan gets… 9 mths of free subscription to cover her losses.
no gain on my part. cos my M1 no. is a special no. n to port it over to Singtel, i needa pay $100.
plus the past few mths of wasted subscription, tt’s abt the equitable amt i shld be gettin.
i fight for wat i deserve, not for unreasonable gains.
in any case, i’m still a Singtel hater.
maybe i’ll port my no. back to M1 when the Singtel contract ends. hmph!
