the line at shangri la hotel

today our chief actuary treated those of us who passed exams to buffet lunch at the line at shangri la! SHIOK!! it was damn nice n i had quite a bit of good food (but by normal ppl’s stds i’m still quite waste-money at buffets).

other than e food n desserts, the whole concept is good cos the place is spacious and the food counters are so strategically situated such that all e pathways are curved and enclosed. i felt like a little girl in a playground! a playground full of yummy food!!

i din take any pics (this was taken frm e website) cos we were wif e big boss n i dun wanna appear juvenile wahaha. argh.. how i wish i can have buffet brunch every sunday.. yah dream on dum ass!

    Hi Snowwhite,

I came across your blog searching for actuary related info and i hope you could help shed some light on the current entry level hiring for actuary graduates. I am in my final year(electrical engineering nus); applying for post graduate studies in actuarial science either in Uk or Aus. Is there an oversupply of actuary grads in Singapore? Thanks for the advice=)

Hi junyou, dun think there’s an ‘over-supply’ of actuarial grads yet. wat do u mean by current entry level? i think it’s best to talk over email if u have other qns.. maybe u can leave ur email n i’ll mail u soon. ;)

Thanks for replying so quickly=) I am unsure about the hiring practices of insurance firms for locals with actuary degrees and number of exams passed. Would they look favourably at a postgraduate actuarial degree from australia or the uk? Is it true that NTU has just doubled their intake for undergraduate actuarial degree? Thanks and best wishes.

frm wat i noe, no preference for country in which u do ur degree. heard that NTU has increased its intake, but not sure if it’s doubled. contrary to popular beliefs, most companies do not employ u based on the no. of exemptions u have, altho it may be a plus point.

  6. This is really a nice blog,i always come here and read the articles
